Title: It Starts Out Like an A-Word (As Anyone Can See)
Rating: General Audiences
Fandoms: The Avengers/Sesame Street
Seriously?: Yes, seriously. Frankly, me being me, I don't even see how you're surprised.
Summary: This fic is brought to you by the letter Y, the number 12, and the Avengers' decision to help fix what Loki and the Chitauri did to destroy parts of Manhattan. (Mostly that last part.)
Notes: Thanks for beta help to
spicedrum,
jadelennox,
celli,
angelsaves, and many other people who hand-held through this whole ordeal.
Any Additional Warnings: This is all suitable for Sesame Street audience. Apologies in advance if you were hoping for graphic vore or whatever.

First: Someone got me DW paid time! I do not know who you are, but whoever you are you are GREAT and I love you. Thank you. ♥
Second: Pretty much all my shows were renewed, which I did not expect but is really great. I'm up to date with Survivor (obviously; I'm going to a viewing party for the finale tomorrow night and then I think crashing the afterparty? UGH MY LIFE) and Community and Parks & Rec and Fringe and Cougar Town and Celeb Apprentice (ALL OF WHICH I AM HAPPY TO DISCUSS), and am two episodes behind on Revenge (sorry twitter harassers, ilu?), and will catch up on Good Wife and Vampire Diaries and Apartment 23 during the off-season before Big Brother restarts, and guys, did you know Korra started? I HAVE TO FIND TIME TO WATCH THAT.
(In between watching all of the Marvelverse movies.
ghost_lingering and I have figured out how to hook my laptop up to the TV, which... well, I think it will end well, but by well I pretty much mean terribly. When I was home sick we watched Thor! :D? :D?)
And of course because of all of this, I am more fannishly engaged than I have been in ages, and am even contemplating creative contributions to fandom, which is STRANGE AND NEW AND EXCITING except for the part where I did it for years before essentially quitting cold-turkey six years ago. I am having a hard time making choices, but since this is the closest I've been involved in ages, here is a list of fics I am contemplating writing and/or have started writing, all of which are crossovers, because that is how I roll.
( I am pretty sure every single one of these has either Madeleine L'Engle characters or someone from the Avengers, which is ALSO how I roll. )
UGH BEING FANNISH AGAIN IS SO WEIRD. You have IDEAS and THOUGHTS and FEELINGS and, yeah. Weird. It's even weirder to realize that this is what I used to do ALL THE TIME.
I am making Mother's Day cards right now (using my 1/16-inch holepunch, which seemed like a much beter idea before I started, and scalloped scissors designed for children, which are child-safe and thus designed for children who presumably don't care how bad their work looks) and listening to Muppet soundtracks, because that's how I roll, but periodically I look up and peck at my keyboard for a few minutes (before deleting everything I wrote because lol OCD, but whatever). I still feel like critical engagement is more my thing than creative at this juncture- see above, re: deleting- but it's still pretty awesome to be involved at all. FANDOM I HAVE MISSED YOU.
And on that note, I have entered myself in the "You are Beautiful" meme on LJ and the love meme on DW, and more of you should do that too because right now I am full of love and you should all be recipients of that.
ETA: Read the comments, you guys. seriously, read the comments. If you care at all about Muppets and Avengers, READ THE COMMENTS.

I saw Avengers on midnight Thursday, just to hang out with some friends and nerdwatch. Since then I've watched Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America; I'm seeing Avengers again Wednesday; and I'm looking for fic and maybe even WRITING fic and fuck everyone I think I'm falling into this fandom.
DAMMIT.
Honestly, though, this couldn't have come at a better time. Having a fandom with about ten hours of canon and countless fanworks to catch up on (not to mention an infinity of comics if I can figure out how to parse them) is pretty great. It's keeping me on the internet and out of my head, and right now my head is the actual last place I need to be. So, thank you fandom; for once you are the best possible option. \o/
For now, if you want to hook me up with fic about ladies (gen, het, or femslash), I'd be much obliged. There's a lot of fic out there labeled (for purely hypothetical example and not at all because it's what I've been looking for since I watched IM2 yesterday *cough*) Pepper/Natasha, or whatever, but it's almost all using that as a tertiary pairing in fics that get them out of the way so dudes can hook up.
...There are so many posts on my flist about something I kind of care about. I feel like it's 2005 and I'm still really in fandom rather than lingering on the outskirts. It's super weird. I kind of missed this. ♥

Yesterday I went to the New York Pops' Salute to Jim Henson. I breathed the same air as Kermit the Frog, and while I cried, I did not actually hyperventilate or faint, so I think I behaved pretty maturely.
There are plenty of other things I could discuss, but none are half so important- or as life-changing- as that.
I have to tell you, he's even cuter in person.

I have been trying to come up with a post to make for a while, but I got out of the routine of posting here almost-daily and it's weirdly hard to get back in! Plus I want to be interesting and I don't really do much that other people find interesting, because I'm pretty comfortable being a boring person. But I want to be the kind of boring person that is enjoyable to read! So it's a really uninteresting conundrum, basically.
But this post is TIME SENSITIVE, as it is March Madness-y. So let's maybe start like this.
Fandom March Madness is kind of crazy, and it's going too fast and I'm super confused by all of it, so aside from saving all of the awesome gifs from comments (and ignoring the majority of them because people are crazy) and sending people furious IMs whenever someone I love is losing (right now I just want Leslie to win, since she is the only one of my favorites still left), I am looking forward to a DIFFERENT fannish bracket competition this year.
esc_key is running a March Madness-y bracket of ENTIRELY AWESOME FEMALE CHARACTERS FROM CHILDREN'S AND YA LIT. Nominations are still being taken, so you should all go and participate.

I got sent home sick from work today, after leaving early Wednesday and not coming in Thursday, because I am apparently made entirely of disease. By skimming my flist/dwircle (my focus is a wee bit shot for reading and commenting), I have discovered I am not alone in this.
Guys, I'm curious. How many of you are ill right now?
Anyone want to have a sickly pajama party in the comments?
:D? :D?
*passes out orange juice and sudafed*

This has been a very busy weekend! Mostly I have hung out with
inlovewithnight, but I also went to a Wrinkle in Time 50th Anniversary Celebration and a Cougar Town event. MORE SOCIAL THAN USUAL. Also I think I'm going to another Cougar Town thing today. EVENTS WITH PEOPLE: WHY DO THEY EXIST AND WHY ARE THEY SOMETIMES SO APPEALING?
Still, as awesome as those things were, the best time was spent hanging out in ye olde living room. I love all my friends (...I don't care for Gob), but man, there's something REALLY REALLY NICE in hanging out with a fellow introvert for a while. I adore many extroverts, and find them quite necessary for getting shit done in a timely manner, but sometimes nothing makes me happier than doing things without TALKING all the damn time.
Care and feeding of your introvert: COMPANIONABLE SILENCE IS FREQUENTLY THE BEST OF ALL SOCIAL INTERACTIONS AND ALLOWS FOR RECHARGING. \o/
In other news, I put my name on the Galentine's Day thing because I'm needy. You should love me.

Ugh, fandom, you are SO CRAZY and I judge ALL OF YOU and yet you delight me on all levels.
I also love sneakily joining fandoms where I only have passing interest in the source text but find the people so awesome. FANDOM HOW ARE YOU SO GRATE?
*is sneaky like a fox*
♥♥♥
Meanwhile, yesterday I caught up with ( Revenge )
RANDOMLY: If Emily from Revenge hooked up with Katherine from Vampire Diaries (which I am ridic behind on because I'm a failure at life, but ignore that), it would be the most competent OTP in the entire universe. Discuss.
